Thank you for the article on Epson 7900. We just got one. I have heard that the printer limits the length of a panoramic print, but I can't seem to find information or a tutorial that talks about that limitation. Do you know what it is? Can I do 24 x 50, for example? Thanks for shedding some light on this question.

In regards to Mike Brewington's issue with his 7900:
I had a similar issue with my new 7890, which was rectified by placing some small foam pads underneath the contact finger assembly for the cartridge in question. Sounds crude but has worked flawlessly ever since. Don't recommend this as a do-it-yourself project unless you are really familiar with working on these large units. Epson does need to do some further work in this area, it seems, which I suspect will be handled. Hopefully this issue has been rectified by now,and Mike has had no recurrence of his problem

Although the 3800 is now probably outdated, my experience with mine, purchased April 2007 may still be of interest.

I note I'm a Media (fine) artist, and only use the printer intermittently. Sometimes just to print a letter, (it's my only printer) and about once a year very intensively for about a month. Sometimes it sits unused for months on end.

In my book to date it's king.

- almost never clogs even after a long period of not being used.
- generally only a minor clog that one clean cycle removes
- I'm careful with the flimsy front door, but mine is still intact
- at the time I bought it, I had a lot of prints to make with a tight deadline. My A4 test prints kept skewing as they were feed through the printer. I complained and was soon talking with an Epson tech who knew what he was talking about. I was lent a new printer while they checked mine for free. In the end it was the platen, which is to light according to the tech. Solution, only stand it on a solid and 100% straight table. I got a full set of 75% full cartridges as compensation for my troubles. :-)
- very good ink economics due to the large cartridge size.
- very fine and consistent print quality

I recently bought photoshop CS5 to use on a mac book pro os 10.6 (snow leopard) Up till then I was using CS2 on an older imac os x.?
When trying to print from photoshop I always got a mysterious disk error. After much searching and trying my solution was:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/875/cpsid_87512.html
Solution 5 which I had to repeat before it worked. (I'd read somewhere else that I may have to repeat it several times)

Interesting information here, with very thorough technical details for evaluating the performance of these ink cartridges. Most of the time I look for this type of information on a blog, its very superficial and/or some outsourced spun article garbage. This is a nice site. Good work.
